There are many different reasons why spirits are earthbound and need rescuing (help with crossing over). One of these reasons is a simple case of 'missing the doorway' or not knowing how to cross over. I will cover the other reasons that I can remember from my experiences and this will hopefully give you a fairly good idea of what you may deal with.

Unaware of passing away

Sometimes when somebody dies suddenly, they are not aware that they have died and may still be experiencing a sort of imaginary existence that resembles the life they've left behind. I once met a gentleman from India from a century or so ago who had no idea he'd passed away. He was working with elephants and they were lifting large logs and something had happened where the elephant or the log accidentally killed him. I asked him at what point he realized that he'd passed away and his reply was very interesting. He said he noticed that the seasons never changed. So to him, he was still living in the same life and did not notice that he'd passed away. While talking to him, I was able to see the world that he could see and by helping him become aware of the real world around him, he realized that it was time for him to cross over - after his delight and fascination with the modern world and our technology!

Shocking death

Sudden and shocking deaths can keep the person earthbound just for the sheer shock factor of the situation. The person may be stuck because they'd died and were not really ready for it. Often they're not even aware that they'd died for quite a while. In such cases, it is possible for the person to be earthbound for a while if they're not ready to leave that lifetime behind just yet, particularly if they have family members that they do not wish to leave.

Our spirit, emotions and thoughts are all connected and sometimes it can definitely be easier to cross over when we are prepared for it. This is the beauty of a death that is gradual such as illnesses. Those are very moving and beautiful moments for many, believe it or not.

Nature of the death

Sometimes the way the person dies can affect their thinking on it and therefore their chances of crossing over. I recall one person who had a spirit in her home. I went in and it turns out that a gentleman had died in the making of the building. He had been crushed by a pole that fell on him. He felt that his spirit was still pinned under the pole and therefore unable to cross over. I was able to help him understand that he was no longer stuck and cross over.

Fear

Fear is a common reason for people not crossing over. When we die, we take all of our beliefs and fears with us. Usually after we cross over, we are healed of our pains, fears etc. by healing guides, but before we do that, we still maintain them and they are as real for us after death as they are before.

Fear of course can be related to anything. Here are a couple of examples where fear prevented some people I rescued from crossing over.

• Three year old girl - a 3 year old girl had died in a car accident and didn't have her parents with her. She did not know what she had to do and was afraid because her parents were not with her so she needed assistance to cross over.
• Old Christian Lady - A lovely old lady had been a very ardent Christian in her last life. Because she'd been taught that if she committed a sin, she'd go to hell, she was very fearful that if she crossed over that's where she'd go. I could see that she had actually been an extremely good person and she had the most beautiful heart, but commonsense told her that she could not have been perfect at all times and she may have inadvertently done something wrong without meaning to so she was too terrified to cross over because she expected dire consequences.

Responsibility

Sometimes responsibilities that we have grown accustomed to, or worrying about how others will get along without them is the basis behind people being earthbound for some people. An example of this is:

• Lady looked after her father - A lady who had looked after her sick elderly father had still felt the strength of the responsibility when she died. He was still alive so she stayed around him until his death and then she was at a loss as to what to do so she stayed around the elderly Mother of the family who lived in the house next. I guess this could have continued with the elderly adults of any families she could attach herself to until she'd been relieved of her duty.

Property

It's not unusual to find people attached to their property for example previous home owners. I once knew a man who had invested his money and practically every waking moment to building his home and maintaining it. It was such an important matter to him, that after he passed away, he worried about whether the next tenants would look after the property. This can be a common situation in haunted homes where some tenants can be chased out by spirits and others seem to have no problems.

Anger

In a neighbourhood I used to live in a young man was annoying at least 5 households in the neighbourhood. I had many residents of the neighbourhood mention that they'd had disturbed sleep, things being moved in their homes and other irritating things going on. When the fellow eventually made his way to my home, he interfered with my readings. I confronted him to discover that he was angry and upset because he had lived 3 lifetimes in a row where his family gave him away or did not care for him. He was obviously very upset and angry about this and felt that he'd been hard done by. His reaction to his pain was one of anger towards other people and wanted to take it out on them so he bounced around the neighbourhood making other people's lives a misery.

Of course there are many more reasons, but these will give you an idea of the range of things you may deal with. Some spirits are just beautiful people who are ready to cross over, but they just cannot find out how to. These rescues are easy and quick.
