Why We Are Here

spirituality - water's edge

The guides shared with me some information on 'the big picture' and what this life is all about. I knew nothing about any of this and had never read a book on it, but it all made sense for some reason.

Why are we here?

We come into this lifetime to learn lessons. We learn lessons through pain. This is why we experience painful situations in our life. The pain is nature's physical way of tapping us on the shoulder and saying 'hey, there's something you can learn from this.' The way we learn from it is to come up with options or solutions and by choosing the 'right' one, not the easy one, then taking the action required.

The guides explained to me that before we come into this lifetime we are shown a series of possible lifepaths. These lifepaths will each have lessons, experiences, connections with others placed at particular spots and we choose which life path we want to take. This decision could be made depending upon how quickly we want to learn, how thoroughly we want to learn, the angle we wish to approach the lessons from, when we deal with these lessons in the lifetime and I'm sure many more reasons that I am unaware of.

We choose the path and we are joined by our guides before entering into this lifetime. How we choose our guides is in the article 'About Guides'.

Why do we not all have instant memory of the other side? One time I asked the guides a question about the universe and their reply was "The human brain is not capable of understanding the answer to that question." That got me to thinking and through other communications with them, I realized that the human brain, although wonderfully capable is still limited in it's ability to understand. They once told me that "Reality far exceeds anything the human brain can imagine. You simply do not have the capacity to understand some things." This really blew me away because we can imagine some pretty weird stuff. They just refuse to answer questions that we don't understand and fair enough too. They would know whether we can understand them or not and there's no point in wasting time trying to prove it.

It's obvious to me from the things the guides have told me over the years, that we have immense knowledge and memories of all we've experienced when we're on the other side. The fact that our physical brain cannot handle all of this information is one reason why we do not bring that memory with us. I call this the 'universal memory'. Another reason we do not bring memory with us is so that we do not waste our time here. We are here to learn and we will learn the best when we are faced with a situation that we feel we have never faced before. There's no point coming into this lifetime armed with the knowledge of what our lessons are and why we're learning them because we simply would not learn them as well if we knew and who the heck wants to come back and re-do it?. At no point in time has a guide ever revealed to me what my lessons are nor those of anybody else either. They rightly say that the lessons are determined by the individual for themselves and it is their right alone to know that information. The guides share in it because they are helping us to achieve them and therefore it is necessary for them to know.

Because we have so recently been on the other side when we are born, we still have some contact with it. This is why children are so intuitive, so emotional, so naturally aware of karma and what's right and wrong. Going from a place of love to a place of physical pain and hardship is shocking and it may explain why some of us have such a hard time with it. Over time, we're generally taught to ignore the intuitive things we bring with us when we are born. Also, over time we become focussed on the physical world around us, thereby the thoughts and connections to things spiritual, must be put aside in order to learn the physical. Even so, we cannot shake off what we 'know' and 'feel' inside is right and these truths are connected to our memory from the other side. By tapping into those, we begin to access some of that memory that we'd forgotten.

Why here on Earth?

The guides told me that 'Earth is still a baby'. They said that this is a planet that people come to when they wish to learn the most basic of lessons. By that they mean physical lessons and lessons that are learned most effectively in a very physical environment. They say that the lessons are harsh because they need to be. The most basic of lessons are not subtle and if we come here, we do so because we wish to remember them. This is a sort of 'boot camp' I guess. They told me that this is the 'hell' that was written about in the bible. They put it to me this way: "You are in hell." I was momentarily confused thinking they meant this figuratively speaking, and they felt my confusion. I asked "You mean, this planet is like hell?" They corrected me quite strongly saying

"No. You are in hell. This is the place that is spoken of in your bible." Then they asked me questions - which they often do when making a point.

They said "What is hell?" I answered that it was somewhere that was uncomfortable where you go to in order to feel pain.

They answered "correct. Why do you need to go there to feel pain?"

I thought about this and I figured that if we go to hell according to the bible it's because we committed a sin and went there in order to think about what we'd done wrong so it would be to learn, I guess."

Again they answered "Correct."
They then explained that the original message has been changed and the information as we know it now is a different version of the original message.

Now, I wish to make it perfectly clear before I continue that I have no feeling one way or the other in relation to the bible or religion. I grew up attending church as most people do, but just never really formed an opinion on it and besides, life was far too busy for me to give it much thought. I swear that this information was given to me directly by the guides with no influence from me whatsoever so please don't send abusive emails. If you have a belief in this area, then bless you. I'm pleased it works for you, but with the guides, there is no room for theories and religion. They speak straight and to the point and this is the information they gave me.

It has since become obvious to me that Jesus was communicating with a guide or guides. This could be the angels that were spoken of back then. I have indeed seen Angel guides. They tend to work with healing and protection. The guides have told me that he was a messenger in his time just as I and many thousands of others are in this time. His words caused a big reaction because people could see the truth in them, but unfortunately the people in power in those days made sure that he was silenced and that the true information was changed forever. This is what the guides told me.

Anyway, so they say that Earth is hell. That we are here to learn lessons and the way to learn lessons is to experience pain. Pain need not necessarily mean great traumatic emotions either. It can be a small discomfort or a mistaken unhappy belief about yourself, but the guides are specific and completely accurate in their estimation of pain encompassing any feeling at all that is negative. This can be physical or emotional. Any discomfort is pain.

This means that when a lesson comes to you, you will recognize it by the pain that is attached to it. I do not know whether every pain we experience is attached to a lesson, but every pain does teach so I guess it's not too far out of the realm of possibility to suppose so.

The guides told me that the lessons learned here on Earth are specific and different to what is learned on other physical planes or other planets. They showed me a vision of a planet that was obviously much more advanced than ours and the people on that planet communicate solely by telepathy. They were beautiful - the harmony on that planet was something that we should aspire to. Because they were telepathic, they could read strongly everything pretty much that each other went through - no room for lies and deceit on that planet. The guides told me that their lessons were much more subtle, but much more difficult and I understood immediately what they meant.

In order to deal with certain situations when the other person you communicate with can read everything that goes through your mind and energy, the slightest feeling would be broadcast. Communication was a fine art and it was necessary to be extremely careful about how they behaved towards each other. It was also very beautiful too though, because in order to show love for one another, they only had to feel it and the other person got the message. Here, we have to go to great lengths to share our emotions and well, there are a lot of walls to break through, I guess.

Again, just like with the subject of religion, I had no preconceived notions about aliens. I was always very sceptical and more inclined to believe that commonsense says there must be other planets with life, but I never thought we'd know anything about one for a long time and I found it all a waste of time to consider so I never did. The visions that the guides showed me though were so…real. It was as if I was there. I could feel the balance of the planets and it was just like our planet. Not at all as strange as I would have expected. It was just …well, it felt quite normal actually.

Anyway, the guides say that we come here to learn the simplest lessons - the physical lessons. It suits the planet structure and the nature of the planet to learn such lessons here. Our seasons are so erratic - so different, one from the other, the earth movements and changes are so major…the whole planet is erratic and beautiful in its' own raw, strong way.

So how do we learn these lessons?

Because lessons are learned with pain, it is common for us to turn away from pain. It's what we learn and are taught from a very young age. It makes sense when you're talking about physical pain - heat for example - to stay away from it.

It seems that we are not meant to turn away from it, but to deal with the situation associated with it to prevent it from continuing. The guides tell me that if we turn from our lessons the lessons will come back again bigger and harder and will continue to do so as we turn our back on our challenges until we are all alone and left to deal with it by ourselves. I don't mean our guides will leave us. This will never happen. It means that we will physically be left in a situation where we will have to deal with the lesson ourself rather than looking for a distraction from it. We will be left with no choice but to deal with it.

So what's the answer? The answer is to think of our lessons and pain in a positive way. Instead of thinking of it as a problem that is annoying and cannot be fixed, think of it as a challenge to be overcome. The faster and more effectively you deal with the lesson, the faster it leaves and you are free to continue on with your life in peace. Sometimes the answer is to talk and come to a harmonious conclusion. Sometimes the answer is to change our behaviour and sometimes the answer is to walk away.

There is a shortcut way to find the answer to your lessons. The guides shared it with me. They say to sit down with a pen and paper and ask questions. They must be the right questions in order to get the right answers so think carefully about what you need to know about the situation you are involved with. You need to be able to answer a yes or no question. If, when you ask the question, you feel that you need to add a but, for example: "Yes, but he didn't mean it" - then push the 'but' aside and ask again. I will eventually do up a series of exercise sheets to help with this process. Basically you keep asking the question that needs to be answered until you come to a yes or no without the 'but' added to it.

When you do, you then ask what to do about it and you list every single possible option on a piece of paper. After you do that, you start to eliminate the options that are not feasible. By feasible, I mean they're physically impossible. The options that are left will be feasible and some of these will be options that you do not want to do. The option you must choose will be the 'right' option, not the 'easy' option. Then you simply need to act upon it.

What if the lessons are too much for me?

Of course the chances are that more lessons may come to you. Only you knew before entering into this lifetime how many lessons you set yourself and what they were, but it's a good idea to be honourable to your own wishes and face those challenges with a brave heart and a positive thought pattern, getting through it the best way you can. The guides will help and while you're getting through your lessons, they will bring good things to you too to make your lifetime more worthwhile and enjoyable.

The guides tell me "No situation will ever be put in front of you that you cannot deal with." So when a lesson or challenge comes to you, value yourself and be honest with yourself and deal with it accordingly. Don't whine and complain. There's no point, because you set the challenge for yourself so you obviously believed that you'd get through it okay. If you could connect with the person you were before you entered into this lifetime, it probably wouldn't seem to be such a problem. But most of us see nothing but the world around us and many feel that this is all there is.

It's not so. It's such a small part of what is really out there. Our time here is like living a dream and most of what we suffer is emotions attached to falsehoods in our own minds.

I once was faced with a painful and difficult situation to do with my family which most people would have thought was a big deal. When I initially started getting upset, I heard a loud 'Don't be a fraud!' from the guides. I instantly stopped, not believing what I heard and I asked what they meant. They said that I was allowing myself to get into a state of mind that was what people would expect me to feel rather than what I really did feel.

I thought about this and realized that it's true. I really wasn't as upset as I thought I was originally. We're so programmed to believe that we have to respond in a certain way to things, that our brains automatically release hormones and any number of things to make sure that we do this thing that it believes is right. I stopped worrying and just became determined to fix it. I walked around with a smile on my face when people thought that I should have been a broken mess. They applauded my strength and offered a lot of help.

I was quick to reassure them that I did not deserve the praise. I was merely being positive, knowing that I would find a solution to the problem. It was a wonderful learning experience to me to see that people expected me to be so upset and yet, if I was, the chances are that they would have looked the other way and not known how to relate to me. Because I wasn't, they felt that I was amazing. But I wasn't. I was just honest with myself. What a truly wonderful feeling.

Do we just keep coming back here?

We don't just return to this planet alone and it's not just those beginning souls who come here. People at all different stages of their growth come here. I have seen past lives for people where they were on a different planet, or people who were animals. I've spoken to guides who actually showed me the planet they were last on and it's definitely not Earth. I've done readings for people on this planet who are really the most amazingly wise and highly revered people as far as the guides are concerned and they themselves are not aware of it because here, we are isolated to a degree from the other side. We are in a classroom and the subject is learning lessons.

When will our lessons come to us?

We can learn our physical or basic lessons - whatever you want to call them - at any time. For myself, the guides told me that I too was a guide which, quite frankly was a little hard to swallow. I must admit that I put them through 2 years of hard work when they came to me because I'm perhaps the most sceptical psychic you'll ever meet. In time, I understood that what they said was true and it's really not that big a deal. It simply means that I guide people as does a teacher in this lifetime or anyone else who helps another person find direction. Anyway, the guides said that when I am on the other side, my job as a guide is to heal others of their pain. I have since seen that this is the case when we cross over. We are immediately healed of all pain we feel.

They told me that I came to this lifetime in order to re-experience pain because one cannot truly help another unless they understand what that person is going through and the only way to do that is to have the same experiences as them. So this means that I have basically put myself into a lifetime where I can experience as many different types of pain as possible. They said that because I had worked with the healing on the other side for so long in between physical lifetimes that I felt I wanted to refresh myself on the painful experiences that people I healed had suffered so that I could continue to help them effectively.

They were very matter-of-fact about it all too. They said I would return for two more lifetimes before returning home. This was interesting to me because it meant that we don't just keep reliving lifetimes over and over and the lifetimes are not always on our planet. I have since met guides who have spent what seems an eternity on the other side. They're all like us - souls. The difference is that they are pure and they do not feel negative feelings at all. They do not feel greed, jealousy, anger, pain, doubt or any of the negative emotions. They tell me that these are things from the physical plane which simply do not exist on the other side. Pain does not exist there and I can verify that, because the first thing they did was take me there to experience it.

The only way I can describe it is to say that it was the most healing, caring, comforting, loving, giving environment. There is no way that anything on this planet can compare to the feeling I felt and in fact, the most rapturous love I've ever felt paled in comparison to what I experienced there. I instantly lost all fear of death and now I rejoice for those who return home for it means that they have learned their lessons and can return to love.

The lessons seem hard. Of course, it would be a waste of time coming to a planet where we are to learn and not feel any pain and commonsense tells me that if we all hung around on hammocks under palm trees sipping drinks and never having a difficult day in our lives, we'd learn nothing.

As far as how many lessons we learn, it varies according to what we wanted to learn before entering. I've seen lifepaths where lessons are shown, but not what they are. It varies for us all. There can be many small ones, a few very large ones or a combination of the two of course. There can be many or few. They can be all placed in our youth or in our old age or mid-way. They can be clustered together or spaced out. There really is no pattern to this except for the fact that we have chosen how we planned it before entering.

What then?

Basically apart from learning our lessons, we are also instrumental in other people learning theirs of course. Our behaviour affects others and their decisions and reactions will help decide whether they learn their lessons. This does not by any means make us responsible for their lessons. We're simply responsible for ourselves.

What this does mean though, is that it's not always a good idea to try to rescue people from the challenges that they face in life because you may be rescuing them from a lesson and to do so does not help in the long term, but ensures that the lesson comes back harder and more traumatic. The guides tell me that there's a way to tell whether you're interfering with nature and another person's lessons. They say that if the act involves making a sacrifice, then this is nature's way of telling us that we are not meant to do it and that we would be interfering in their lessons or life path should we go ahead. Now this does not mean that you can't help people, but use wise judgement and ensure that when you do, it's not leaving you in some difficult situation. If you do this, then you'll be creating imbalance which causes quite a bit of ruckus sooner or later.

The guides tell me that when we have learned our lessons we return home. Somebody once asked "What about still born babies for example?" The guides answer was the same. They say that it is not for us to determine when we will learn our lessons once we have entered into the physical world. Lessons are so varied and some can be so subtle, we'll not be aware that we've learnt them and may see it as an awakening or learning at times. When we have learned our lessons, it is a time of great rejoicing for the guides and it is our time to return home. No matter how old we are, a way will be found for us to return. We'll never know when that time will be of course unless we predict our own death, but dying does not mean the end. It means great success and it means returning home to the arms of love.

The guides also referred to 'judgement day' one time when we were discussing something. I asked them about it and they told me that this is the day that we judge ourselves and our progress in each lifetime. It means that we evaluate how well we've learned our lessons and from this we learn what we will need to learn in the next lifetime and how we will go about it etc. They told me that nobody judges another, we all judge ourselves. They were very clear on the fact that everybody takes full responsibility for themselves on the other side. They told me of a universal law. It's like the 10 commandments, but not needed to be spelled out because this one law covers everything. It is: "No person has the right to inflict pain upon another."

Everybody is equal on the other side and it should be the same for us on our planet because this whole planet and everything living on it is part of the 'big picture' too and although some jobs or duties seem more important than others, they are never considered so. Every person is entitled to respect.

I'll leave it there because what the guides taught me took 2 years and that would be an awfully long document. The rest of it will be on this website in time. Of course there are other purposes to being here such as helping others, but that's another resource document.

This information is from the guides and like everything from the guides, it takes a while to digest. So take your time with it. You'll probably need to read it quite a few times before all the pieces fall into place.
