Nature
Nature, go outside the message said
As I strolled over the road, a minor bird greeted me hello
I walked along to the gate, hearing the critters all round
Heading towards the river edge, a butterfly fluttered about
a few steps forward the one became two, dancing in front of me
leading the way to the waters edge, the horses looked up
to greet me too, the winter sun warming us through
the gentle warmth of the winter sun, caressing, healing
Behold the river was peaceful and slow, not a ripple to show
a different scene from a week ago, when the flood waters
flowed like a torrent to the sea, carry the debris down at a great speed
As I looked up a bird was in flight, gliding along
only inches from the water, mirrored in the river
the reflection was like a twin bird in flight
amongst the rubbish caught up on the bank was a roll of wire
no longer to be used for fencing upstream
That brought to mind the two weeks past of storms and bad weather
and the hardships faced by the people who live on the waters edge
but out of tragedy sometimes a laugh, the bed floated past
the river was full of pumpkins and melons, freed from their vines
As I stood on the edge I felt the quiet, I realised the beauty
but recalled the fright I felt before, where I was standing
when Nature turned to Beast for a short while
But as I recall there was still Beauty in that Beast.
