The Importance of Asking Questions with Psychic Work

Importance
Perhaps the most important aspect of psychic work is asking questions. The type of questions you ask determine the type of answers you get and how many.

When you are exploring your psychic ability, you have to learn to recognize the answers that come to you - whether it be through feelings, images, words or otherwise. It is easy to ask a question thinking you've asked the right one only to receive information that is different to that you were seeking. In order to have a full view of a situation a whole range of questions must be asked from many angles.

It is important that you train your brain to be alert to the smallest things happening around you that draw your attention, but that you also tend to ignore. Those are the things that mean something. If it catches your attention, it's telling you that there's something to recognize. Over time unfortunately we've tended to tell ourselves that it's nothing and successfully managed to block ourselves to a large degree when we really are quite a psychic race.

It's hard to know what to expect at first and it will take years of experience to get to the point where you will instantly be able to pick up on everything. Even then, you'll not always be able to focus on everything and it may take a few days to notice things or to deal with them, but that's okay. We are physical as well as spirit and we need to work with our physical lives too.

An Example
For this information, I'm going to use a situation that a student of mine experienced to show you what I mean when I speak about watching for things that happen around you and for asking questions. This particular situation is in relation to sensing a spirit, but asking questions is necessary for any area of psychic work.

I think it would be easier to simply put down a lot of our conversation. This way you can see the student's reaction which is the same as everyone's when they start to learn about recognizing what they have picked up on and not realized. It may seem a little long and drawn out, but I'm doing it for a reason. Each person who is learning to use their abilities goes through exactly the same situation at some time and some of your questions will be answered by reading this.

Read the conversation by clicking here. It will open in a new window so that you can come back to this document.

Recognition
It's amazing the number of things you'll pick up on that at the time don't mean much to you and soon show themselves to be more. We simply can't focus on everything and will miss a lot, but over time you'll start to recognize more and miss less. You will also recognize many important things which will help in your life and your relationships. Hopefully you'll be able to use this info to help with asking questions and recognizing what your energy is picking up on.

It's easy with this work to feel afterwards that you were silly for not recognizing it, but with this subject, some of the learning has to be done backwards. What I mean is, that it's like learning from life. By recognizing what you've done and sensed after the event, your brain will then over time become aware of what to look for in the future. With each situation you experience, you will then have some more pieces of the puzzle and your brain will from then on begin to recognize what to look for.

Sometimes it takes a few of these events to recognize something. For example, about 10 years ago, I was performing a reading for somebody and started getting back pain. It got quite severe to the point where I had to keep moving in order to ease it. I soon realized that the last four times I got back pain whilst doing a reading, spirits had also come through to communicate so I realized that the pain in my back was a physical reaction to my energy picking up on the spirits that would come around. Since then the pain changes now and then and sometimes it's neck ache or a headache or still a back ache, but it taught me to be more aware of what my physical body was telling me.

I don't automatically assume it's a psychic reaction. I first eliminate all physical and emotional possibilities before looking in that direction, but after a while, you do sense the difference in the energy just as Sue sensed the difference in the 'cold' that she felt and once you've recognized a particular energy, your body will remember it the next time and recognize it instantly even if you take a little longer to become consciously aware of it.

Questions to Ask
It's hard to come up with an actual list of questions to ask, but I'll put down what questions come to mind and you can expand on them to suit you.

Are you to help somebody?
Some people make the very incorrect assumption that they are meant to help everyone and anyone who comes near them. This is arrogance. Even being able to help one single person in this lifetime is a great honour. It makes you the most important person in the world to them for that moment. You have every right to feel proud, but never allow it to become something that your self esteem hinges upon because it then becomes imbalanced and you do it to build up your self esteem and this is using people.

If you are meant to help someone you will be made aware of it and that person must come to you - it is their decision alone. You can offer assistance, but it must in no way be accompanied by any form of pressure. This is very important to remember because life and nature will automatically move you and others to where you need to be in order to help others and you do it each day without even realizing it.

Helping others is the most important of work and should be enough for any of us. If you are attempting to help somebody that you are not meant to, then you will be interfering with that person's lessons and this can have grave side effects for all involved so be careful about ensuring that you are meant to be the person who assists.

The list of questions could go on forever. The questions depend upon the ability being used and the situation that you are in. Ask any questions you feel like asking and if you feel that you're going off track, then return to the last question that you felt confident with. It will help you achieve better results.

Influences
Probably the most important advice I could give you is to please not allow anything you've read or learned before now from outside sources to influence you with your work. Forget all pre-conceived notions and go with the pure feelings that you get from inside. This is the only way you'll get the truth in your work and not be led astray. Try to avoid any sensationalism and getting too carried away. It's common to have those moments and that's okay as long as we rein it in and remember to go back to reality and approach things from a grounded point of view when we realize.

I'll finish off with a final piece of info that I received from Sue.

"I did recall something else - about leaving the house and when I would walk through the front door I would feel sick - I thought it was to do with my flu, but I now think it was a physical reaction to a spirit presence lately. That has definitely been strongest in the last week and you know what? The kids and I went out to get lunch today and it is the first time I didn't feel sick when walking through the front door. I can actually notice the difference in the energy now and I have also felt happier out of the blue since this morning when I removed the spirit, which is interesting because I didn't think I had had any emotional responses to the spirit's presence."

This is fabulous. Over time, through having such experiences, Sue's mind will automatically tend to check such things and prompt her to recognize them so that she will pick up on any energy or spirits that should not be present. This will happen for you too and becoming more familiar with how your house feels when it's free of spirits or negative energy will help you recognize it easier when it begins to build up allowing you to remove it before it affects you.

I hope this info has been a help to you.
