Feng Shui and Indoor Water Features
by Ronnee Ruselle

I love water. To me there's nothing more relaxing than hearing the soft tinkle of a small indoor fountain especially if there are lovely green plants nearby. How pleased I am to discover that not only is it relaxing and enjoyable, but there's a very prosperous element to it as well according to feng shui.
In feng shui, interior water features like waterfalls, ponds, aquariums, fountains, in your office or home promote wealth and blessings. Waterfalls or any feature with moving water are especially good for us because they follow the natural flow of water and create the qi (pronounced chee) energy in a harmonious way. The flowing or moving water also increases negative ions in the air balancing out the negative and positive ions.
The negative ions help the body recuperate from hard workouts, physical and chemical pollutants around us and illness or stress. They enhance the quality of our sleep and dreams, improve alertness, concentration, reaction time, moods, healing time of wounds, skin condition and the overall function of our immune system. Any home or business that has need of such healthy conditions (and whose doesn't?) will benefit from a waterfall or moving water feature. They also increase the humidity in the air in drying locations with air conditioning or heating and of course let's not forget how beautiful they are. Placement of your water feature can help bring about different results too. For a good marriage, place your water feature south-west. For wealth and luck face it south-east. For career luck face it north. For study & education face it north-east. To encourage helpful friends face it west. For good health and family relationships face it east.
Try adding floating candles or light to your fountain. It will draw life, happiness and encourage positive thoughts from others. A mirror behind it will expand energy whereas stones and weighty items will restrain positive qi.
Fountains should be round in shaped or round at the corners. Square ones can be placed in corners, while round ones can be placed in the centre. The larger the size the better and more effective they are, but a small water feature is perfect on a table top. Avoid rectangular shaped fountains.
So when next you're looking for something beautiful to add atmosphere for your home or business, you may want to consider the healthy, harmonious indoor water fountain. Of course this is just basic information so you might want to look a little further into it for more information on how water features can enhance your life through feng shui.
