Restoring the Natural Flow of Life
Channelled by Donna Thomson

In this world, the flow of life has not been as it should be for some time now. Thankfully times are starting to change to correct the natural flow that affects how our fellow human beings are valued and treated. Recently, as I pondered the roles of our youth and elders in particular, the guides came through with some input about the flow of life...
Youth
Youth have VISION for the future and are our future-makers. Youth relates to DREAMING - creating a positive future, planning, researching and developing understanding, values and beliefs. Youth represent POSSIBILITIES - they are the seeds that well-cared for and nourished, will grow a strong future for all.
Elders
Elders have WISDOM gained through experience. The elder years relate to REFLECTION and TEACHING. Elders hold the key of HINDSIGHT - they have been there, done that and continued their path after falling many times. They can share the wisdom of lessons and they can foresee a direction that will continue after they are gone. By sharing this insight with the youth, they can ensure that the same path does not become well-worn by re-walking because new paths can be created...better ones.
From Individual to Global Perspectives - Times are Changing
As we grow, change is unavoidable. Our values change based on our education; we break away from core family values and become aware of more universal values. Now we also move out of the smaller community perspective and into a global, united perspective. The Internet has brought with it global connections and a perspective wider than was ever possible before. The individual can no longer justify naive beliefs and perspectives such as racism, prejudices and other injustices that have been the mindset of small groups. We are becoming accountable to a worldwide people - the human race. The human race has no groups.
'Family' is no longer restricted to bloodlines. Family is everyone you take into your heart. Be they your neighbour, your fellow countrymen, or every living being.
The Natural Flow
In the past, children knew they were learners, the middle-aged knew they were workers and the elders knew they held the wisdom of life experience. However, as times passed, the elders became disrespected by the young generation and the young generation became arrogant and assumed that they held enough wisdom to live without guidance. The generations became lost; disconnected from the natural flow and harmony of life and living.
It's now common to acknowledge that we have become disconnected from our planet, but we have also become disconnected from each other. People have reversed the order of things by assuming wisdom in youth and treating our elders like children. Just as the times are changing to reconnect with our loving, living planet, so are the times changing to correct the natural flow amongst generations.
Children should be humbled at their innocence and seek to learn from those who are more experienced. The middle-aged should embrace their experiences and opportunities for life lessons. Elders should embrace their wisdom, acknowledge it, and find ways to share with the younger generations, or else the evolution of mankind will continue to be a slow process. Without the natural flow of wisdom gained through the generations, there is little progress as we've seen in the past generations to this present time.
Life at any age is about taking action based on the past and looking to the future. The time of action can only ever be NOW because there is no true past or future - only today. Today we go back to 'the old ways', however we do not return to the past in doing so. Today is a different world than yesterday. Instead, we correct the natural flow of things - with the relationships with each other - our kin, and with the planet - our home. We don't aim to return to previous times as we have moved on from those times. We look around at the situation right here and right now and we look at how we can transform it into beauty. The ways of the past hold the key to the transformation of today into a positive future.
The key is 'nature' - nature is simple in its design. It works in harmony at all times to maintain balance. What may seem destructive is simply a beautiful restoration of balance. Peoples of the past were close to nature, listened to it and knew how it flowed. They observed the growth process in nature and saw themselves as a reflection of that - from innocent seedling to maturing tree that then turns into the most solid, wise entity that has heard and seen many things and takes all under its branches. This is how it should be with everything - we are part of nature.
If we look outside of ourselves and see the big picture- the world view, our brothers and sisters across the oceans and the unitedness of every living thing...if we connect in this way, listen and show respect, we will be able to progress as a people. We will evolve as we should, gaining wisdom, insight and a knowledge of hidden truths.
Many people are feeling that their purpose is not so much about their individual lifetime any longer, feeling it is more about being a 'collective' - a time of working together as a human race. This is a positive step forward, yet it must be remembered that you can only walk your own footsteps. It is the responsibility you take and the ethics you hold yourself to that counts. It is the action you take, the compassion for yourself and others and the service you give to others and your world that counts. If each of 'you' do this simple thing, you will create unity.
