Is your child being visited by a spirit?
by Ronnee Ruselle

Over the years, I have discovered that the children in the house are the most likely to be visited by spirits. Recognizing the signs and dealing with it can help your child to have less disruption to their little lives.
What to look for:
Restless sleep, talking to an invisible 'friend', speaking of visitors in the night or strange people visiting them, bad dreams, toys and other items moving or being used, a feeling of coldness in your child's room, but most especially your child commenting on it.
These can be indications of one or more spirits in the home. Very few children have actual invisible friends that they created from their own imaginations. This has been a convenient story and even true in some cases, but in most cases, the child is speaking with a spirit.
Spirits often get lonely and bored. Many are protective of children and many are fearful and feel safe around children. Often it is a grandparent or other family member visiting - particularly around anniversaries or when a new baby is in the house. They love to watch over the family and especially the children. Sometimes the spirit is a child who wishes to play with another child. Unfortunately it's not always a friendly spirit, but sometimes a trickster who wants to cause trouble.
Possible effects of this situation:
Tiredness can be one side effect. It's interesting that when there is a spirit in my home, both of my children toss and turn in their sleep and a lot of other parents have observed the same thing. This disruption can affect their quality of sleep.
Fear of their bedroom or sleep can be a very difficult situation to deal with and can subconsciously affect their sleep patterns or habits for life if they are not reassured sufficiently. If they are taught that what they are feeling is untrue, they can begin to doubt their judgement also. If the child becomes too attached to the spirit as a friend to play with and is having social difficulties with other children, it is possible that the child will withdraw from other children and try to spend more time with the spirit who is nice to him/her.
Not all affects of spirit visits are negative. If it is loved ones visiting and it gives the child a feeling of love and security, then it's fine, but just ensure that you are able to verify details with the child to ensure that it truly is a relative and that the child is okay with the visits. If you feel any doubt at all, then trust that. It won't be wrong and it could mean that there is another spirit present as well or that the spirit is somebody other than who they claim to be.
What to do:
Believe them. If your child tells you of a visit from somebody in the house, then please believe them. It won't do any harm to show that you believe them even if there isn't one, but to show them doubt could cause them emotional pain that can stay with them for many years if not their whole life. Cleanse the room and place protection in the room (please see here for more details). If it has had a very negative affect on the child, then redecorating the room and giving it a very happy atmosphere may encourage the child to be happy there again or even moving them to another room. Of course, this won't literally make any difference, but psychologically it could help the child feel secure again. Teach the child that he/she is strong and can tell the spirit to leave, but if the child does not feel secure with this, then also share about guides and how the guides will protect him/her.
You can tell the spirit to leave the home (aloud or in your mind - either works) and you can also use a white light or other protection around the child and the rest of the family. Should you be able to sense the spirit, then it senses you too and you can communicate with it. Ask it nicely to leave or tell it to (whichever is most appropriate) and ask the guides to help remove the spirit. Sometimes this won't work. If that's the case, seek out a reputable and genuine medium to deal with the situation.
