Eye Strengthening Exercises for Seeing the Aura
by Debra Tyers
To see the aura we need to strengthen our eyes. We do this by increasing our eyes' sensitivity to light and using our peripheral vision. The technique of 'de-focusing' the eyes are also excellent for auric sight.
The best lighting conditions to see auras is soft light. Candle light or lamps are good, but avoid harsh strong light such as direct sunlight etc... Moonlight is also excellent for seeing auras.
Exercise for Strengthening Vision and Co-ordination
Focus on the diagram below, concentrating on the circles at the centre. It should take on a 'tunnel like' appearance. Close eyes and rest them for a few minutes. (NB. It is important with aura exercises to repeatedly rest the eyes by closing them for a few seconds. The muscles can become very strained from such focused viewing and can cause mild headaches and tired eyes. Also the process of work/rest/work/rest allows the eye muscles to continually focus and de-focus which is good for strengthening the eye in general and gets you used to subtle sight of auric vision.)
Focus on the centre of the diagram below. Rest. Focus again and slowly bring your eyesight out focusing on one ring at a time until you reach the edge. Repeat. Practising this for a few minutes a few times a day will allow you to pull your vision in and out easily.

Stimulating the Peripheral Vision
This exercise shows you how to stimulate your peripheral vision to see the aura. It is a demonstration of the best way to focus your eyes to see an aura, using your peripheral vision and de-focusing the eyes.
In the exercise below stare at the black dot for 30 seconds and observe the coloured circles with your peripheral vision. Try and keep focus on the black dot and not look away. The coloured circles will look like they are surrounded with a different colour. This is because you are stimulating the cones of the eye in peripheral vision. The longer you concentrate, the brighter the 'aura' around the circles seem.

Stimulating the Left and Right Brain to Work Together
The next exercise aims to stimulate the communication between the brain's hemispheres. Stand back a bit from the picture and place a finger in the centre and below the circles (about 20cm away from the screen.)
Now focus on your finger and casually observe the circles in the background. You should see four circles. Aim to overlap the middle two and you should see a circle with a white cross in the centre. If you do it shows both sides of you brain (the hemispheres) are working together. Do this exercise regularly and aim to hold the position of the white cross for as long as you can. Make sure to relax your eyes.

Seeing the Aura around your Hands
The hands radiate and receive energy so they make an excellent place for viewing your aura.
Sit in soft light, such as a candle or lamp and hold your hand at arms length against a light background (e.g., white or cream coloured wall). Take some deep breaths and look closely at the hand, in between the fingers and at the ends of the finger tips. You may see a thin pale band of colour next to the skin. Usually the colour is whitish, pale blue or a blue grey.
Practice this regularly and you'll get a 'feel' for how you should look for the aura. You will also expand your abilities until one day colours will reveal themselves to you.
Head and Shoulder Aura
Another simple exercise to see your aura, and that of another person, is to sit in front of a mirror in soft lamp light. Take a few deep breaths and stare at your reflection, focusing on the side of your head or above your head. De-focus your eyes by looking at the air in front you (midway between you and your reflection) And as with the exercise above, concentrate on the 'middle air' while letting your eyes observe your reflection. Again looking to side and top of the head rather than directly at your face.
You may see the thin band of whitish light mentioned above, and you may also see 'movement' in the air around your head. Don't be concerned if you can't see colours, this takes a lot of practice. Just take note of anything you see...pale light, 'vibrating' air, ripples, sprays of light/energy etc... Do not be disappointed if you see nothing at first. It can take a while for your eyes to get used to a new way of looking. Perseverance and practice will develop your auric vision until you can not only see your own aura, but that of others as well.
Colour Stimulating Exercise
Doing this exercise a few times a day will strengthen the cones and rods in your eyes, advancing your aura colour viewing abilities.
Focus on the colours in the centre and after a few seconds your eyes will focus on the larger coloured circles around the wheel. They will appear to change in size and colour. Do this exercise for a few minutes and then remember to rest your eyes by closing them until the colour 'after images' fade completely.

Practicing the above exercises regularly will help stimulate the cones, rods and peripheral vision in your eyes which all help develop your auric site. But remember, the most important skills in learning to see the aura is practice and patience.
