5 Top Tips When Planning a Wedding
by Ronnee Ruselle

We have all heard stories about how stressful it is to plan a wedding. With so much to organise, even the most positive of brides-to-be can soon feel daunted. Remembering these tips will make what is a difficult job much more pleasant.
Choose a theme
To do this, it's a good idea to make a list of words that come to mind when you think of your wedding and from this you can get an idea of the style or them that you would like to have. That is one of the most important elements of planning a wedding. Once you have decided on the style or theme, you'll then know the types of services or vendors you're going to need. By doing this you'll have something precise in your mind and this will make the planning easier not only for you, but for the service providers who will then be able to help bring it to life for you.
Shop around, comparing prices and service
Even if you like the ideas that are presented by one of the service providers, it is in your best interest to compare that with what others have to offer and see who will give you the most value for money. Some service providers will pay special attention to your needs, and the level of their commitment to your wedding will be evident in their proposal, and during your first consultation. They may stay later than necessary, return your calls promptly, listen to what you have to day etc and these people will be the ones who will work that bit harder to make your special day a success.
Get everything in writing
Whether it's a service provider or the location of your wedding, it's a good idea to have what you want written down in a contract or agreement. Some officiates won't have a contract, so asking him/her to write a letter listing the services expected for the wedding day. It makes it clearer for service providers, avoiding confusion on the day, and if you've ever watched a wedding case on Judge Judy you'd know that legally you have nothing to support you without it. This is particularly important if you're having something unusual because it means that both you and the provider have a clear idea of what is needed for the day.
Taste the food
You want your guests to remember how beautiful your wedding was, not how bad the food tasted, so make sure you taste it beforehand. If you need to save money, try to do it in other areas and ensure that the meal is suitable. It's one of the major parts of your reception.
Hire a wedding coordinator
You like to save money on your wedding and in many cases some people would prefer to organise things themselves rather than hiring the services of a coordinator, but the coordinator can stay within your budget and in some cases can find you better deals through their list of contacts than you could for yourself. They can take care of a lot of the running around that busy couples don't have the time for I have heard stories where things went wrong on the wedding day and instead of the bride having the worry of fixing it, the coordinator did and ended up with an even better wedding than was originally planned.
