Are the answers you receive, accurate? How to tell.

We all receive our information and answers in different ways. It can come to us through words, images, sounds, feelings etc. and it is not enough to just accept that every piece of data we get is accurate because this will not be the case. It makes sense that we need to know how accurate this information is. There are a few factors involved in determining this and they include knowing where the information came from, whether it is relevant and our interpretation.

In many normal day to day situations we can receive feelings or insight about events and this information can help us to make decisions on what to do about them. Practising the tips in this article help you analyze the information faster and with more depth.

Your in-built lie detector

As individuals we access information from many sources, by using all of our senses. Whether you realize it or not, you have an in-built lie detector of sorts often called the gut instinct which you use to gauge how much truth or accuracy is in the information you receive. Unfortunately, distractions or lack of time can make it hard to use this instinct immediately when events happen, requiring you to go over the event at a later time. I recommend you do this with all of the information you receive, because the more you do it, the more you learn about the process and in time you will be better at analyzing the information on the spot. Even advanced psychics with years of experience still need to do this.

How to understand the messages

The only way to really understand what you are receiving is to take the time to observe, ask questions, keep notes and in time you will begin to see where some things correlate with others and begin to make sense. Patterns can emerge that will provide 'Aha!' moments for you, where you will recognize signs that tell you the information's origin.

As this article will refer to things mentioned in "Where answers can come from" you may wish to read that article before continuing.

Keep notes

Firstly you need to write down the messages and answers you get. Sometimes you will have no doubts that your message is a true one and that is great, but you can also receive many subtle messages along with it that you will miss by not keeping notes, so do it for those as well. A lot of people buy a special book just for this purpose.

You could record:
  • The date
  • The message
  • The circumstances that the message relates to
  • Any feelings that came with it
  • The questions you asked at the time in relation to that message and the answers or gut feelings you got in answer to those questions
  • Other events or information in relation to the situation

It only takes a small time and effort to keep these notes, but they can be very enlightening as to what is happening around you.

Ask Questions

If you wish to learn even more, then begin to ask questions when you get messages. Note down the message, what questions you asked and the answers you got.

Taking the time to develop a list of questions beforehand that you can ask when you need to is helpful because sometimes the right questions don't come to mind when you are analyzing your message.

Here are a few suggestions for the type of questions you could ask:
  • Did the message come from myself?
  • Did it come from my subconscious?
  • Did it come from my higher self?
  • Did it come from spirit? (spirit could be a guide also)
  • Did it come from a spirit I know?
  • Did it come from family? - if you get a yes to this, then consider dearly departed but also living relatives. People do have telepathy although it is subtle and most people may not even be aware of it. If you believe that a message or answer comes to you from another person then they could be thinking of you or wishing to send a message to you. Also, if it is dream related, be aware that some people can travel to others in dreams or meditation and their energy or higher self could assist you even without their awareness.
  • Did it come from a guide? - Keep in mind that a guide can be spirit or human or even animal. Your higher self could be the guide so don't assume instantly that it is a spirit Guide, but you could discover whether it is by following this up with such questions as "Is it a spirit guide" "Is it MY spirit guide" "is it a person around me who is helping?" "Is it someone I know who has passed on?"
  • Did the information come from a source other than myself?
  • Did it come from another person's energy? - If you happen to have another person's energy around you, the information can come from that.
  • Is it a message?
  • Is it a sign? - This can be different to a message. A sign could be a simple yes or recognition that you are on the right track. It could be to lead you in a direction which is where the following question helps.
  • Is it meant to show me a direction? - You could follow this up with questions such as "Is it leading me to a person?" "Is it leading me to an object?" Sometimes such things can be guiding you to a choice for example if you're trying to decide what direction to take with your career.
  • Am I getting this message because I want one? - Sometimes we feel the need to connect with someone particularly in times of need. We should be careful that the message is not too 'convenient' as this could lead us away from the truth. However, wanting it does not mean it is not genuine. So follow this up with other questions to determine if it is or not such as the first questions in this list or "Does this come from my emotions?". Remember, approach it with scepticism. Let the answers prove to you that this message is real and you will avoid becoming disillusioned.
  • Is it my need or desire creating it? - This is helpful to know because if it is, don't discount it, but be aware that it could be a false message created by needs or wants.

If your desire created the message, this does not make the message unimportant; it simply means that your mind is helping you to realize your true feelings and desires. This can be useful in finding out more about yourself as a person and what areas you may need to change or work on in order to make you happier or may help you realize your strengths so you can feel better about yourself or some task you must undertake.

Preparation before analyzing

Before you go through the question phase and analysis of your message, it is extremely important that you allow yourself to disconnect from the issue emotionally otherwise your answers may be inaccurate.

Think of it like a painter who is about to paint an old wall. If the painter does not clean and prepare the wall correctly, the paint job will be affected and need to be redone. Do not skip this step no matter how much you think you know yourself. Even experienced professionals have to ensure this step before working or the work cannot be used. You will find information on how to do this here
